The Freo X Ultra, a highly-rated and highly-functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop, is a well made machine. The price of $1,400 is a bit steep, but you will find it on sale frequently enough to make the purchase palatable. The unit is stunning and the base takes up very little room in a corner.
The design of this robot addresses some of the issues we've experienced with other robotic mops and vacuum units, such as brushes that get caught in hair and the brush not being able to reach bare flooring beneath furniture. The sweeping performance is impressive on carpets and flooring. The vacuum/mop features a high-quality debris collection and the mop can quickly saturate bare flooring.
The mops have a sophisticated system that cleans along the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot can easily avoid obstacles like toys, food bowls and backpacks. It is able to get tangled or get stuck with smaller, more compact objects like shoelaces, USB cable and pens.

We used this robot to vacuum and mop a variety of pile carpet tiles, FLOR carpet, and hardwood floors within a large, open house floor plan. It cleaned and mopped the 90 square meters in 170 minutes with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than the average for Gen 4 robots.

Other noteworthy features include a clear display on the robot’s underside and the dock door is convenient to open. The Freo X Ultra is the best vacuum and mop for homeowners and apartment owners who want to make a difference in their chores while still keeping their homes tidy and clean.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele has a reputation of quality and innovation in the field of robotic vacuuming. The new Miele robot is designed to take that to the next level with smart features and top-notch cleaning performance.
The RX3 features dual suction technology, intelligent navigation with 3D mapping and a camera that sends live images to your smartphone for effortless control. The powerful four-stage cleaning system offers excellent dust pickup on hard and carpet floors, while intuitive side brushes with a swing-out feature and two suction channels clean in corners. Its 8.5 cm height lets it get under furniture that is low. Front cameras and infrared sensor assist in navigating barriers, thresholds and obstacles with ease.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it cleaned baking powder near baseboards and corners. Its suction of 2,500 Pa was less powerful than some other robots, but it moved quickly and was quiet. It didn't mop, however, and its removable cleaning pads were a bit difficult to attach and didn't deal with dirt that had dried on.
The app doesn't have advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It is compatible with Alexa but its voice controls aren't clear or responsive. And it's also a little difficult when it comes to getting back to the charging station after an outing -- other robots can follow a previous route or follow a wall until they get to their destination, but the RX3 just bumbles about until it finally gives up and sends a message of failure to your phone.
We also had issues with the intelligent features of the device, namely its mapping feature as well as digital stay-out zones. It was great at keeping our shoes and furniture legs away however it could easily get hanging up on cables, socks, and carpets. This is the reason we decided not to include it in our Best Buy list. With a decent price and impressive performance The Scout RX3 is worth considering when you're looking for an alternative to traditional uprights.
