1. iRobot Roomba j7+
The Roomba J7+, iRobot's smartest robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its biggest advancement, however, is its camera-based obstacle-detection technology. It makes use of AI to identify objects like charging cords and shoes. It's also the first to automatically send you a photo of any object it encounters so you can tell it to stay clear of it in the future.
The Combo j7+ is also the most efficient mop robot we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt effortlessly while leaving no trace it was there. It's easy to control using the iRobot Home app, which lets you schedule cleaning and create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't vacuum areas you do not want it to. And it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can turn it on and off using your voice.
The design is also more appealing than the other models. It features a sleek, top piece that looks like toys rather than a loud and obnoxious robot. Clean Base's Automatic Dirt Disposal System is also self-emptying which can cut down on cleaning time.
In our tests, the j7+ was quick to clean up dust, dirt and pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in its place instead of scattering it on the floor. It even managed to take small gravel and sand which other robots can't. It did this without getting tangled in our pet's hair.
While it's not quite as efficient as the $1,217 iRobot Roomba s9+ Auto-Emptying Vacuum, which isn't able to clean stairs, the j7+ is still an excellent option for those who require both mopping and a vac in their home. It's not expensive, and the iRobot application makes it user-friendly.
While the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly however, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that work with robotic cleaners. It can take a long time to download updates, and sometimes it's difficult to tell if the update is actually working until you've seen it in the action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you're looking for a robotic vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean your floors, a hybrid is the ideal choice. This category of bots typically comes with a built-in tank for water, meaning they can both vacuum and mop your house at the same time. They also come with various additional features like smart mapping and small object avoidance and the ability to wash and re-dry mopping pads. The disadvantage is that they can be expensive at retail price, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they are often reduced in price.
Roborock has some of our most loved robot vacuums and the Q5+ isn't an exception. This is the least expensive model in their auto-empty line. Although it might not come with some of the luxurious features (like no-go zones and multi-story memories) however, it's a great choice when you're willing to compromise to save a few dollars.
The Q5+ is remarkably soft when it comes to obstacles such as walls and table legs. This makes it an ideal choice for homes that have many furniture pieces. It's also very thorough in cleaning dust bunnies. This is a place where many cheaper robot vacuums aren't able to meet. The technology used to navigate in the Q5+ is fantastic and has very few misses in corners and along walls.
The Q5+, like other Roborock products can be controlled via just a few buttons on the device, or via the Roborock App. With the app you can start and stop cleanings, set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones and modify your home map or change the labels of rooms.
If you opt for the Q5+ it includes a new auto-emptying dock, designed to make this robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, but once in place, emptying the bin is done with relative ease. It has a large LCD screen that is very useful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This feature isn't required for most people but it can help you easily keep the robot's maintenance schedules.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's astonishingly clever in its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design is among the most innovative in the market however it's quite expensive.
The base station looks nice and is hidden when it's not in use, and its size is relatively compact. But the station's biggest selling feature is the way it automatizes many tasks and functions that most other robots will leave to you. It stores clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do) and empty the dust bin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot charged and clean.
Its vacuuming capabilities are impressive as well. It's the only robovac that I've used that has done a good job picking up debris from bare floors. It's also not as loud as the costly Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.
The Freo X Ultra is not without faults, particularly in the area of navigation. The laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs, meaning it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain rooms or corners of your home. It also can't climb stairs as well as other models and doesn't come with a docking station to create a cleaning area for carpets that are soft.
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great choice for those who need a robot vacuum that does it all.
But if you want to save some cash or simply don't care about the limitations of this robot There are many other options available with a wide range of eufy models for substantially less. The eufy Qrevo curv, for example, is cheaper and has many more features, like the ability to climb stairs and a full-function Dock, with the ability to provide a more thorough vacuuming experience on bare floors carpets, low-pile carpets, and even high-pile ones.
4. Eufy RoboVac G30
eufy is an Anker company that has an established track record of making robot vacuums that have the right combination of performance, features, and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning power for hard and carpet floors, as well as mopping capabilities at an affordable price. It's easy to setup simply by snapping one of the side brushes on, turn it on, and plug it into the charging dock. The app takes you through several steps to connect it to your Wi-Fi and then the G30 is ready to go. It is recommended to keep the dock close to an electrical outlet and enough space for it to move however.
The G30 is a tiny device, measuring 2.85 inches in height, so it can be placed under most couches and low-clearance pieces furniture. The most important feature that sets the G30 above the rest is the method it cleans. It uses a built-in mapping to create an image of immovable objects in its path and then keeps track of what it has already cleaned and where it can't access. It will return to the base to recharge and then continues cleaning the area it left.
The elegant G30 has a few flaws. The iRobot Roomba 675 is better constructed, has lower recurring costs, charges faster and offers similar battery life, while providing better performance on bare floors and low-pile carpet. It comes with a larger dust bin that does not require more emptying. It also comes with boundaries that prevent it from certain areas. The G30 is cheaper and easier to maintain. Its smaller canister means it doesn't need to be emptied as often and has less difficulty with bulky items like cereal.
